The Kathy Schrock Digital Pioneer Award is an honor given by teachers to teachers recognizing the importance of modeling risk-taking, problem-solving, creativity and collaboration. The recipients are life-long learners who are successful at making the journey from the industrial age to the information age and at providing rich learning environments for students preparing to live and work in the 21st century. 

Recipients of this distinguished honor are teachers who:
 
  1. demonstrate growth in the use of technology for teaching and learning over the span of their careers


  2. model risk-taking by pushing the boundaries of the traditional classroom for the benefit of students


  3. adopt new technologies as they become available and embed them meaningfully into teaching and learning
 
  1. evaluate, share, and utilize all types of  Web-based resources


  2. possess a repertoire of varied technology skills


  3. emphasize the processes of information and computer literacy across the curriculum


  4. serve as mentors and evangelists to colleagues and the larger education community


  5. continue the passionate journey, always looking and learning and sharing what they find
