How Has Your Nominee Been a Trailblazer Implementing Technology into Instruction?
Christopher "Chris" Kelly is a member of the Career and Technical Education Department who serves as a mentor to his co-workers. He served as the department chairperson and elected to give up the position so that he can dedicate more time to teaching the students. Chris is in the forefront of expanding the county's technical education program so that student's will be able to meet industry standards upon exiting his class. This has meant he has willing spent his own time getting trained and seeking to become Industry certified. This has included after school, weekend and vacation time. Chris also wrote a grant last year in which Thomas Dale was granted a state of the art lab for his classroom. In his new lab students research, study and maximize their knowledge of the industry and the required software; take certification test to achieve verified credit (this allows the students to become highly marketable in post-secondary academics and employment within all aspects of industry, justifying them as 21st Century Learners). Chris has created a curriculum to accommodate and compliment the Center for the Visual Arts. He is currently working on an innovative curriculum to cover the entire spectrum of not only the computer entertainment industry, but design, advertising and graphics.
