Doretha Grier
How Has Your Nominee Been a Trailblazer Implementing Technology into Instruction?

Mrs. Grier has embraced the technology that our school has integrated into the classroom.  She uses document cameras, student response systems, lap top computers, interactive white board and various web 2.0 tools in her classroom.  She integrates them seamlessly and always seems to find just the right tool for the task at hand.  She collaborates with the teachers in her department, on her team and with the instructional coaches in the building.  She uses real world, real time teachable moments to teach the science curriculum.  She used the disaster in Haiti to teach her earthquake unit as the disaster was unfolding on the news and on the internet.  Mrs. Grier is not afraid to take risks in the classroom when she knows the results will benefit students.  She empowers students to take ownership of their learning.
