Nominee Has Shown Leadership Successfully Implementing Technology into
Instruction?
Joe Hofmeister, former 38 year mathematics teacher
and technology innovator at Cincinnati Country Day School, is the premier
leader, the "George Washington" of one to one technology, who took
the plunge and risk implementing such at program at Cincinnati Country Day
School. In 1996, Joe was the very first to recognize the transformative power
of the laptop computer as a primary learning tool.
As an inspiring, vocal leader for Anytime, Anywhere
Learning, Joe was the first on the North American Continent to introduce a
comprehensive, one to one program in grades 5-12 implementing it with every
student receiving a computer on September 24. Joe's brilliance, dedication and
unprecedented commitment to one to one learning teachnology has been a burning
flame for all of us in the field of education for the last 15 years.
Most everyone who knows Joe and has worked with him
understands what a privilege it is to watch his passion, knowledge and
instruction at work. Between 1997 and 2007, Joe conducted over 50 one to one
workshops including several for the Microsoft Summits and entertained of over 500
visitors to Cincinnati Country Day School to see the school's incredible one to
one program in operation. Furthermore, in 2002, Joe started the first tablet
program as a natural extension of his laptop program at CCDS.
Now working as a consultant, Joe continues his
tireless and relentless pursuit of encouraging and helping schools achieve one
to one technolgy competancy and mastery. Joe is by far and away "the
pioneer" who was the first to turn vision into reality and leading the
charge for scores of others to change for the benefit of every living student
in North America!!! It would be very fitting if the first time ever, AALF
Leadership and Vision Award was given to Joe Hofmeister.
Recognized as one of the original first AAL Microsoft
Pioneers along with Cincinnati Country Day School.
