How Your Nominee Has Shown Leadership Successfully Implementing Technology into Instruction?

Co-Chair a committee on a 21st Century Learning to bring Interactive Whiteboards into all classrooms of a 31K student school district. http://sbo.nn.k12.va.us/21stCentury/2009/index.html

One of first schools in district to have an interactive whiteboard in every classroom.  Teachers actively use them.

All of his instructional staff members were encouraged to host a blog to promote student writing.  To inspire his staff, he took them to see the movie Julie and Julia for an opening school year activity.  The staff used Twitter as a backchannel with their cell phones and tweeted to his Twitter account during the movie.  http://www.dailypress.com/twitter

Most teachers host a blog to encourage student learning  http://www.dailypress.com/news/dp-local_passageblogs_0315mar15,0,5892658.story

He publishes a weekly Glog for staff http://passageactivitywiki.glogster.com/wk-of-march-1st/ that gives teachers instructional ideas and links to tech websites

He uses a Blog to conduct professional development http://community.nn.k12.va.us/drrogers/2010/02/06/52/

He has piloted several mobile learning projects at his school to include cell phones, iPods, MP3 Players, iPod Touches, Nintendo DS and Playstation PSPs

He authored an article: http://www.21c3leadership.com/forms/2009_02_cellphones.pdf   and a book: http://www.teamvistech.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=482  on using cell phones as an instructional tool

His teachers participate in monthly job embedded professional development that focuses on technology integration-called shift shops.  Teachers learn to use Senteo Response systems, Blogs, Pod casting, SmartBoard strategies and Mobile Technology.

He assisted in planning three 21st Century Leading and Learning conferences in his school district.  The conferences were designed to help district staff learn different ways to integrate technology into education.

Invited to serve on a panel for the State of the Mobile Net Conference in Washington DC   http://www.netcaucus.org/conference/2010/sotmn/
