MISSION

"CRSTE promotes cohesion and collaboration among existing ISTE state affiliates and other agencies and organizations that promote twenty-first century learning through technology in education throughout the national capital region."

Over the past decades, educational technology has become pervasive across the instructional landscape, and with it many worthy professional organizations working to promote its efficacy in teaching, learning and productivity. In the 21st century, the challenge is to collaborate and find points of common energy - synergy - that can help us work together across state and national lines to promote the skills, values and attitudes that students will need to be successful contributors in the global work force.

Looking beyond our traditional political and geographic boundaries, CRSTE looks to partner with like-minded educational organizations from around the national capital region and around the globe. We are no longer bound by the four walls of a classroom in connecting our students to the world, and we should no longer be limited by our thinking in how we connect, cooperate and collaborate with others. The notion that professional development offerings need to be formal and face-to-face is an industrial-aged notion that does not match the realities of how we work, learn and grow today.

CRSTE promotes just in time professional development that is delivered in a number of ways to a variety of audiences as the need and the interest arise. We strive to remain lean and flexible in understanding the needs of Information Age educators and students and in meeting those needs as they are ready and able. Providing a voice for educational technology leadership and advocacy for positions, policies and practices that promote optimal learning and productivity are essential goals of the CRSTE mission. Education leaders are often too busy to provide for their own professional development needs; CRSTE strives to offer the content, the dialogues and the training that will empower leaders  to lead by example as citizens of a global economy.

Whether you already belong to another professional technology organization or you are just looking to connect, CRSTE welcomes you in building partnerships across the national capital region. Together we can combine our efforts, pool our ideas and resources, and make a difference at a higher level for all our schools!
